After a specific section area has been selected, a range of web sites, WAP sites or internet radio stations is presented to the user. Selecting the appropriate link then opens the corresponding web site, WAP site or internet radio station.

To enter the internet address of a particular website, go to the PhoneAnything home page and say "website" or press "50". Enter the internet address one character at a time using the buttons on your telephone keypad - see the "Entering text" link below for more information about entering text using the telephone keypad.

Once a web page has loaded, the number of links on the page is read out to the user. The system then attempts to find the main text area within the web page and read this out. If no main text area can be found, the system reads out the web page from the beginning. The system continues reading the text items on the page until the end of the page is reached or the user presses a key on their keypad.

Completing forms

The PhoneAnything system allows web page forms to be completed and submitted using the telephone keypad. To select a form item or click on a form button, press the "5" key on the keypad after the form item has been read out (see "Navigating web pages" above).

Text fields can be edited using the keypad - select the "Entering text" link below for more information about entering text using the telephone keypad. Radio buttons and checkboxes can be toggled on or off by pressing the "5" key.

Popup fields and multiple selection boxes are navigated in a similar way to web pages. When a popup or multiple selection box is selected, the system enters "Popup selection mode" or "Multiple selection box mode". The items in the popup or selection box are then navigated using the "1" and "3" keys. Select one or more items by pressing "5" and then press "#" (hash) to leave the popup or multiple selection box.

Pressing "4" from the main menu will toggle automatic navigation on or off - the system automatically navigates to the next item of text by default once it has finished reading the previous item of text.

Pressing "5" will allow a specific link number to be entered. The system will then navigate to the appropriate link directly, missing out all intervening links. To determine the number of a particular link, navigate to the link using the "4" and "6" keys. The number of the link will be read out after the text of the link has been spoken.

Pressing "6" from the main menu will add or remove the pause between links as they are read out. By default the system pauses between links to give the user time to select specific links using the "5" key.
