PhoneAnything wins New Statesman New Media Award for Accessibility

06/07/2005

PhoneAnything has won the "Accessibility Award" in this year's New Statesman New Media Awards. The awards recognise those who have achieved something of benefit to others, whether in their community or in society at large. The PhoneAnything Voice Portal offers voice access to webpages, PDFs and e-mail through conventional telephones, providing an invaluable service to individuals who may lack normal internet access.

The key themes of this year's awards are "ingenuity, modernisation and accessibility". Since 1998, the awards have promoted projects that embrace new technology, fresh thinking and creative management in the UK.

"Society has always been promised a great deal by the digital revolution," says John Kampfner, editor of the New Statesman. "The 2005 New Media Awards highlight the projects that have really delivered on that promise."

Stefan Haselwimmer, Managing Director of PhoneAnything, said "We are delighted to have won a New Statesman New Media Award for Accessibility. Our technology opens up access to webpages and e-mail for individuals who may have difficulty accessing the internet through conventional means."
