PhoneAnything has been shortlisted in the "On the move" category of this year's New Statesman New Media Awards. The awards seek to highlight those who have used new technology to benefit society. The PhoneAnything Voice Portal offers voice access to mobile internet content (WAP) and e-mail through conventional telephones, providing an invaluable service to individuals who may lack normal internet access.
Since 1999, the New Statesman's New Media Awards have promoted projects that embrace new technology, fresh thinking and creative management in the UK. "We hear a great deal about how the internet and such like will improve our lives," said Peter Wilby, editor of the New Statesman. "This project aims to look at how far the digital revolution has really brought us."
Stefan Haselwimmer, Managing Director of PhoneAnything, said "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this year's New Statesman New Media Awards. Our technology opens up access to internet content and e-mail for individuals who may have difficulty accessing the internet through conventional means."
